DEBATE, DEBATE, DEBATE

In 1858 Abraham Lincoln and Stephen a. Douglas had a total of seven debates Illinois.
Both candidates had many topics that would get many to find out who is really ready to run as President of America. Some of the biggest issues that both candidates face are about slavery because this topic is what can change everything. They even talked about if Africans should get rights. Throughout all the debates that Lincoln and Douglas spoke at many. In my prospective I think Douglas won most of the debates because he was more for slavery then Lincoln ever was, because Lincoln thought all that Douglas spoke about was wrong,“He [Stephen Douglas] is blowing out the moral lights around us, when he contends that whoever wants slaves has a right to hold them; that he is penetrating, so far as lies in his power, the human soul, and eradicating the light of reason and the love of liberty, when he is in every possible way preparing the public mind, by his vast influence, for making the institution of slavery perpetual and national.” Both men were usually always going back and fort to get the people to see who would be the next President. Until Stephen Douglas got the best of the people and Lincoln lost the race.

The candidate that I think won this debate would have to be Sen. Barack Obama because he really explained his point on the topics that were being asked in the questions. He even got across his points the best he can. So that’s why I think he won the first debate on Friday night. Senator Barack Obama was also very confident and knowledgeable about what he said about the country and how he could make it a better place for the people of the United States. Senator Barack Obama also had very good body language and great eye contact, which McCain had trouble with.I even got a better understanding of it from watching it on TV. I saw how both Obama and McCain where always trying to get someone to look like the bad guy during the debate. Both even tried blaming this on each other. The polls for Obama were even higher then McCain because many people were more convinced that Obama fought back strong and made his points across to his audience across the US.
In the Vice Presidential debate I would have to say Biden won because he knew his topics well and he gave use an understanding how the country should be ran. Palin fought a good fight but I expected more then hearing soccer mom stories. In my opinion I thought that it would have been better for Biden to run for President because it sounded like he knew more than Obama.Biden won because he knew his things and did his homework, which Palin should have done because she was lost sometimes. Biden even had the upper hand because Palin had a rough week before the debate and she had a lot going against her. Biden even was a very well speaker by all the promoting he has done.
