Biodiversity

Well I feel that the world’s biodiversity will be extinct by the year 2110 because everyday many species of plants and animals are decreasing due to the things us humans do, like deforestation, animal resources, poaching, population, environmental variability, taking animals for profit, over harvesting and introducing species. These things will hurt the planet’s biodiversity if many of these issues continue to happen. I still think that theirs hope in protecting the biodiversity of the world.

What I want to talk about in my report is what can happen to the biodiversity if we don’t conserve the environment. Then I would want to end it with how if we fallow the importance of biodiversity and how we can protect it for our future. The "Loss of Biodiversity and Extinctions — Global Issues." website was interesting because its facts about biodiversity and extinctions of plants and animals were helpful due to the global issues of deforestation, pouching, ocean biodiversity, and human activity. This will help with my project because I really want to cover a lot about many of these global issues. This can help me cover the negatives in the beginning of my report how were leading our plants and animals into extinction. This is where "The Importance of Biodiversity” info will come into action and help me with the importance of protecting the biodiversity, due to the info and facts I use to tell the audiences how we can step up to the challenge and protect the biodiversity of the planet. It even talks about how we can start by doing and keeping these things to help our plants and animals survive. I want to prove the positives of the keeping our biodiversity from going extinction because I still feel that their will be hope still in 2110 with preserving our biodiversity with the importance of keeping it alive. What I got from the “Biodiversity Hotspots” was how you can search any country and find info of plants and animals, facts, charts, maps, pictures, graphs, and ways to conserve the species and the human impacts on the area.

If any thing I want to choose three parts of the world that are trying to conserve their biodiversity. I want to choose a particular sea like the Great Barrier Reef because the climate change is destroying the coral and bleaching it which means its dying from the climate and many animals are taking the fall due to the coral dying. I’m even thinking of reporting on the rainforest in Borneo because many palm oil plantations are being built, deforestation and pouching. Some of things are driving away many animals such as the rear Orangutan that’s losing its homes and Borneo pygmy elephant that being killed for human contact with crops. These two rear species are losing their homes fast due to the resource of palm oil that many are growing. I’m still not sure what to still do my project about but some of the topics I spoke about were topics I’m very interested in working on and stilling thing of a other place and topics to research about. I’m not to sure yet what I’m thinking of doing because there’s a lot of interesting topics to choose from and I’m still looking around but I have a pretty good idea of what I want to talk about in the biodiversity topic of what it would be like in the year 2110.

1. "Loss of Biodiversity and Extinctions — Global Issues." Global Issues : social, political, economic and environmental issues that affect us all — Global Issues. Web. 22 Jan. 2010. <http://www.globalissues.org/article/171/loss-of-biodiversity-and-extinctions>.

This website was interesting because it had many good facts about Biodiversity and Extinctions of plants and animals, I would say this has been a very helpful source because the info ranges from deforestation, pouching, ocean biodiversity, and human activity. This will help with my project because I really want to cover a lot about this unparticular global issue and talk about all this hurting the plants and animals from over fishing, deforestation, like cutting down forests legally or illegally, pouching killing this for game and how many human activities can destroy little by little. This quote is a very powerful because of what’s happening to our biodiversity. “Already resources are depleting, with the report showing that vertebrate species populations have declined by about one-third in the 33 years from 1970 to 2003. At the same time, humanity’s Ecological Footprint—the demand people place upon the natural world—has increased to the point where the Earth is unable to keep up in the struggle to regenerate.” — Human footprint too big for nature, WWF, October 24, 2006 (Emphasis added)

2. "The Importance of Biodiversity." UNDP | United Nations Development Programme. Web. 22 Jan. 2010. <http://www.undp.org/biodiversity/biodiversitycd/bioImport.htm>.

In this website "The Importance of Biodiversity." I got more info about how we can protect our biodiversity by having good soil, water, and air. The other facts I found out how to prevent extinction from things like crop production, climate stabilization, decomposition of wastes, pest control. These are a few things that can change the importance of biodiversity. It even talks about how we can start by doing and keeping these things to help our plants and animals survive. The reason I want to use the info from this website is to also prove the positives of the keeping our biodiversity from going extinction because I still feel that their will be hope still in 2110 with preserving our biodiversity with the importance of keeping it alive.

3. Biodiversity Hotspots - Home. Web. 21 Jan. 2010. <http://www.biodiversityhotspots.org/Pages/default.aspx>.

In biodiversity hotspots, I got many facts and info about the planets plants and animals. This has many good facts that have a list of the countries and the life that lives their from the many species of plants and animals and the things they do to help the environment. It even has maps of the areas, charts of animals and info of the species. It even has brief overviews of certain countries and of the history. It even has info of the endangered plants and animals and humans impact on area and the conservation action that happen to help the biodiversity in the land or sea to protect the species. If any thing I want to choose three parts of the world that are trying to conserve their biodiversity. I want to choose a particular sea like the great barrier reef, maybe a certain rainforest maybe Borneo and stilling thing of a other place but not to sure yet.

Isaac, you information is solid and I can tell you are passionate about your topic. Everything we need to know is in your annotations but next time take it a bit slower as the grammatical errors make it incredibly difficult to read your paper. Aside from that I think you've got a good topic that can take you a number of places.

I think that you really have a good understanding of what you want, as well as the information that you will use. I think that if you are going to show that not all hope is lost for biodiversity but 2110, then you will have to specifically spell out things that people can do to help or programs that should be employed.

I like how critical you think the problem is right now i completely agree. I also like the information that you used. If you just work on your grammar you can get your point across better and make a better argument for people to see. Your information is great just show it correctly.

Good topic. I can see that you have thought about this considerably and are very passionate about it. Your annotations are really thorough and I got everything I'd need to know just from the research you did. Next time just make sure you slow down and proof read because the grammatical errors blew my mind.

i like how in your article it shows that you are very interested about your topic and it seems like you have a pretty good understanding of what you want to talk about on your paper. i think you should just work on your grammar. other than that i think you're going to have a really good paper since you seem really interested in your topic.
